Keynote speaker for the June 11 meeting is Kim
Sheppard, chief of staff for the Aeronautical Center Director at the Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC).
Sheppard, a native of Oklahoma City, has been
employed by the FAA at the MMAC for 28 years. She manages a staff that is
responsible for providing corporate services to support her and other
executives located at the Center. Her staff serves as a focal point for
activities ranging from employee recognition programs, ISO certification,
strategic planning, corporate communications, community outreach, and project
The aeronautical center director oversees an
aviation safety mission in providing technical training (controller,
technician, and safety inspector) development and delivery, corporate outreach,
emergency readiness, property management, facilities management, and
infrastructure support. Oversight includes centralized National Air Space
System logistics support, repair and overhaul, as well as financial management,
and information systems.
MMAC is home to the largest number of FAA
employees located outside the Washington D.C. area. MMAC operates under
the Office of Finance Management (AFN), which is responsible for providing
and streamlining the FAA's common business services through a consolidated
integrated approach. All AFN operations conducted at the MMAC are reported to
AFN headquarters located in Washington D.C.
